Surf Break Description San Cristobal Island
Important Information:
3/2 fullsuit or spring is recommended from April through October.
Guayaquil to Galapagos flight time 1 hour, the breaks are very near the airport.
All spots are for advanced surfers only. All spots are no more than a ten minute taxi ride from the Main town. I have included the flight times.
Loberia:
Swell Direction: Southwest
Tide: All tides
Season: all year.
Crowds: Light Crowds.
Advanced Surfers Only
Calm Winds only, variable with wind conditions.
Very dangerous left rock reef with large rocks in the inside line up and a very heavy drop. Not recommended for the light hearted. Gets blown out easily but usually has waves.
Tongo Reef:
Swell Direction: Southwest
Tide: All tides
Season: all year.
Crowds: Light Crowds.
Advanced Surfers Only
Calm Winds only, variable with wind conditions.
A fun left with long rides and some tubes.
El Canon:
Swell Direction: Norths
Tide: All tides
Season: December through March.
Crowds: Light crowds.
Fast hollow left over shallow rocks, botties would be advisable. Does get
big and hollow sometimes, but usually it is one of the easier waves in Galapagos.

Carola:
Swell Direction: North
Tide: Low to Medium
Season: December through March.
Crowds: Can get crowded.
Advanced Surfers only.
World class Right, probably the best in Galapagos. Very fast
and hollow. Can get very big. We recommend bringing a board over seven feet.
Uncrowded when big.

Manglecito:
Swell Direction: North
Tide: Low to Medium
Season: December through March.
Crowds: No crowds
Boat Access only., two hour boat ride from san Cristobal
Advanced Surfers only.
Very fun left over shallow reef. Absolutely beautiful beach. Very fast wave but not as powerful as the other spots on the islands. |
